Student in libraryGod’s goodness has resulted in our library developing into one of the significant theological libraries in the country.

We have around 65,000 titles, including several special collections that we are particularly proud of:

  • most of the theological section of the Fort Augustus Benedictine Monastery library (approximately 15,000 volumes) including Migne’s Patrologia
  • several thousand volumes of the William Temple Collection from the John Rylands library at the University of Manchester
  • a significant proportion of the missiological library at St Ninian’s, Crieff
  • the entire library of Rutherford House in Edinburgh (almost 15,000 volumes).

Study spaceWe make special provision to purchase all books on course module reading lists and we ensure that at least one copy of each is available in the library, as well as multiple copies of core texts.

Our library is continually evolving and not only do we buy important new titles from a range of publishers, but our tutors regularly trawl second hand book catalogues searching for significant out-of-print titles.

We have a wide range of theological journals both in hard copy and online.  You can also borrow CDs and DVDs (and even good old-fashioned cassettes and video tapes!) on preaching, theology, church history and philosophical theology.

This precious collection supports teaching and learning for both staff and students in the incomparably rewarding endeavour of the study of God and His word.
