Access Course Leader and Lecturer in Youth, Church and Culture

Jonathan’s main teaching responsibilities are in practical theology, particularly as it concerns the study of adolescence, and in evangelism and homiletics. He also leads the Access Course at HTC.

Jonathan earned his M.A. (Divinity) from New College, University of Edinburgh, in 2006, followed by a MTh in Theology in History in 2007. He earned a ThM in Christian Education from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2008.

Having served as associate minister in a local church for 11 years, he is currently undertaking doctoral studies at HTC in the role of conviction in Christian education, due for completion in September 2022.

He has presented conference papers at the International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry on liturgical identity (Cambridge, 2008) and the priesthood of all believers for Christian education (Durham, 2018). He has also contributed to the Church of Scotland’s publication on Children and Young People (“Participation” in Learn: Children and Young People, ed. Suzi Farrant, (Edinburgh: St Andrew Press, 2017)).
