Student support

We are committed to all our students and we will do all we can to make your experience at HTC enjoyable and rewarding. We know studying can be tough and sometimes you are not sure where to turn. At HTC we aim to provide help and advice throughout your journey with us. From course information to student funding advice and general support, we are here for you. If you would like support with taking the step from school to college, then we can help with this too.

Cathy Steed, our Student Support officer, is available at both the Dingwall campus and HTC-Paisley. She provides a drop-in and/or phone service, available to all students. She is also the go-to person for those requiring additional support with their studies due to dyslexia, Asperger’s, learning difficulties, disabilities or difficult situations as well as being our dedicated point of contact for care leavers and carers. It is always best to tell us in advance of you starting your course with us, if possible, so we can provide the best level of support.

The UHI Care Leavers page may be of particular interest to students who are carers or who are in or have left care.

We can also provide a more dedicated 1-2-1 service for problems you might be facing with family life, financial difficulty, stress and anxiety. As a community of faith and scholarship, HTC aims to provide spiritual support to students should you require this.

Remember

  • All discussions with us are strictly confidential.
  • No question or concern is too small.
  • We can offer a range of help from a 5 minute chat, e-mail query or a regular one-to-one session.
  • Don’t feel alone as you journey through your studies at HTC. Help is always at hand.

Cathy can be contacted on cathy.steed@uhi.ac.uk or tel: 01349 780206.
