Highland Theological College UHI (HTC) is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with the Cambridge-based Kirby Laing Centre for Public Theology (KLC) for the provision of postgraduate research degrees (MRes and PhD). This new partnership will enable students within the KLC network to pursue their doctoral studies through HTC, benefiting from the specialised supervision of Fellows of the Kirby Laing Centre.

KLC is a global network of Christian scholars dedicated to rigorous, interdisciplinary enquiry that is enriched by faith, community, and wisdom. With an orientation toward praxis, KLC aims to produce transformative research that deepens public discourse and serves the common good across various academic disciplines.

The collaboration brings together two institutions with deeply aligned values and a shared commitment to fostering cutting-edge theological thought tailored for the current cultural moment.  HTC Principal, Dr. Jamie Grant, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration: "HTC's theology, values and approach to postgraduate research supervision align very closely with those of KLC and we believe that this new partnership will be an exciting opportunity for Kingdom service together in the years to come. Postgraduate research degrees are at the cutting edge of the development of theological thought for our cultural moment and generation. It is exciting to be able to push those reflective boundaries of theology and culture together with KLC in a collegial and collaborative manner—one that encourages us to think creatively, yet to grow and develop in the light of the wisdom of the ages. We welcome this new partnership with a real sense of excitement and expectation.”

The partnership also marks a strengthening of long-standing academic relationships. KLC’s Director, Dr. Craig Bartholomew, highlighted the deeply formative nature of this academic journey:

"Done well, by both student and supervisor, PhD research can be profoundly formative. At KLC we aim and hope to form a new generation of outstanding Christian scholars and our new partnership with HTC is central to this goal... I have known Dr. Jamie Grant since our days at the University of Gloucestershire and am thankful and delighted at the opportunities this new partnership presents."

Through this collaborative framework, both HTC and KLC look forward to cultivating a robust, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment for global postgraduate researchers.
