Hector Morrison retires as HTC's principal.

Highland Theological College (HTC), a partner of the University of the Highlands and Islands, have announced the retirement of its long-serving principal, the Reverend Hector Morrison, after 31 years of dedicated service.

Reverend Morrison, a foundational figure in the college's history, will transition from his leadership role while continuing to serve the college in a part-time capacity, teaching undergraduate modules and advising the new leadership team.

Reverend Morrison's commitment to the college began at its inception. Together with Andrew McGowan, he was tasked by a group of Christian businesses and church leaders with establishing the Highland Theological Institute as it was first known, as a key part of the nascent University of the Highlands and Islands. He served as vice-principal and lecturer in Old Testament before becoming principal in 2009. His passion for Scripture and his personal dedication to the well-being of staff and students have left a lasting impact on the HTC community and beyond.

He is widely known and respected throughout the Highlands for his teaching and pulpit ministry which has influenced a wide variety of Christian communities and gatherings.

The HTC board of governors, staff, graduates and students are profoundly grateful for his unwavering service and personal investment in the lives and callings of countless individuals.

Dr Jamie Grant, previously Vice-Principal (Academic), has been appointed Interim Principal, and Dr Innes Visage has stepped into the role of Vice-Principal (Academic). The board extends its full support to both leaders as they guide the college into its next chapter:

"His legacy is a testament to his faith and vision. We are also excited about this period of continuity with Dr Grant and Dr Visage at the helm, which will allow us to thoughtfully plan for the college's future sustainability and growth."

The college will release a more comprehensive statement celebrating Reverend Morrison's many contributions to the Church and college in the coming days.
