Highland Theological College UHI is now part of the new University of the Highlands and Islands. Along with 12 other partner colleges and research institutions that made up UHI Millennium Institute (UHI), we have been working towards this historic milestone for more than a decade, and are now very proud to say that Highland Theological College UHI has played a key role in creating the University of the Highlands and Islands, Scotland’s newest university.
This is achieved through a partnership of fourteen colleges and research institutions along with over fifty local learning centres. Currently over 5500 students are studying or undertaking post-graduate research with UHI. The UHI mission is to create a University of the Highlands and Islands, and we have set ourselves the target of achieving this in the year 2007. HTC is a constituent college of UHI and plays a full part in its operations, including representation on all boards and committees. As the only UHI partner in Ross & Cromarty, a significant part of the HTC premises are given over as an Open Learning Centre for the provision of education and training, including the provision of UHI courses. This is achieved in a variety of ways, including the provision of open learning materials with appropriate student support, on-line web-based learning, and remote access by VC to courses offered by other UHI partners. Students attending HTC are currently studying the BA in Cultural Studies, offered by Orkney College UHI; the BA in Rural Development, offered by Lews Castle College UHI; and the BA in Scottish History offered by North Highland College UHI. |
