The Centre has facilities to accommodate full or part-time students following UHI degree courses. Students receive tuition from other colleges around the Highlands and Islands and participate in seminars through the use of video-conferencing. Access to on-line resources is through the Open Learning Suite. The UHI Millennium Institute prospectus is available from the college. ECDL is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries. It is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enable them to develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects. ECDL is now available in Ross-Shire with the Highland Theological College UHI in partnership with North Highland College UHI.
There are seven modules in the course: -
Our course is a tutored class with all the benefits of a face-to-face tutor. Classes start each August and run until the following June. There is one two-hour class each week with additional home study. Please call us on 01349 780000 for class details. Each term a selection of leisure classes are held during
the year. Subjects include languages, sign language, digital photography
and computing for beginners. Please call or
email the College for an up to date schedule and times. All ‘Computing for Beginners’ courses last for ten weeks, with a taught 2 hour class once per week. This course is appropriate for students who are complete novices and also for those with limited experience in using a computer. Topics covered include:
This course is appropriate for students who have some experience in using a computer. Although it is not a prerequisite of this course that students have attended the ‘Computing for Beginners’ – Level 1 Course, it would certainly be beneficial if they had. Topics covered are a progression from Level 1, with more advanced tasks within several software applications being taught.
This course is suitable for students who are relatively experienced in using a computer. Although it is not a prerequisite of this course that students have attended the ‘Computing for Beginners’ - Level 2 course, it would certainly be beneficial if they had. Topics covered are a progression from Level 2 with more advanced tasks being covered within several different software applications.
Students completing Levels 1, 2, and 3, will have covered a high percentage of the content of topics in the ECDL syllabus.
This course is appropriate for students who are relatively experienced
in using a computer. Topics covered are a progression from Level 3 with
more advanced tasks being covered within several different software
applications. On completion of the Level 4 course students will have
