This degree course was written in its entirety by the staff of HTC and was one of the first degrees to be validated in the summer of 1998 by UHI in association with the Open University Validation Service. An honours year is now offered. The BA (Hons) degree will be awarded to students who successfully complete the four levels of the course. Exit points are also available at the end of level one (Certificate of Higher Education), of level two (Diploma of Higher Education), and of level three (Ordinary BA Degree). The Board of Ministry of the Church of Scotland has approved HTC as a provider of the academic element part of the training for Readership (CertHE) and the ministry (BA). The minimum entrance requirements are normally five SCE passes, including three at Higher grade. However, we wish to make the course as open as possible and so many other access routes are possible, including the Access course described elsewhere on this site. Particular consideration will be given to mature students who may not have formal qualifications but whose work experience may give evidence of ability to complete the course. Prospective students whose first language is not English must have reached 6.5 in the IELTS examination or its equivalent prior to application. The course has been designed in a flexible format so as to be accessible to full-time, part-time and open/distance learning students. |
